St. Vincent Botanical Gardens

The oldest botanical garden in the Western Hemisphere - established 1765.

About this experience

Established in 1765, this is the oldest botanical garden in the Western Hemisphere - twenty acres just outside Kingstown, holding a direct descendant of the original breadfruit plant that Captain William Bligh brought to the Caribbean in 1793.

The grounds also house a captive breeding programme for the endangered St. Vincent Parrot, the island’s national bird. A short, gentle visit that rewards a slow walk.
